Lux works with NASA Goddard Space Flight center and higher-education institutions to develop mutually beneficial relationships that help organizations realize their human capital goals. For example, Lux creates and maintains opportunities for students and faculty from universities to work in the government and private sector. We obtain funding in the areas of science, engineering, math and technology, and for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and other Minority Universities. The Lux team assisted EduTech Ltd. with tailoring a professional development program, the Program Management Development Process (PMDP), for NASA. PMDP is a comprehensive learning strategy supporting the development of NASA Project Managers by integrating coursework, knowledge sharing techniques, and on-the-job experience. The PMDP outlines competencies and includes a sequence of project management courses and work experiences designed to help participants gain competency in the four NASA-recognized levels of project management development. Through the outreach efforts of EduTech Ltd. and Lux staff, some PMDP courses received recommendations for university course credit by the American Council on Education and PMDP participants receive Project Management Institute Professional Development Units. Lux and EduTech Ltd. also supported education outreach between NASA Centers. Transfer Wisdom Workshops are one-day workshops with the objective of establishing local communities of practice focused around a customized topic such as research or project management. The Masters Forum was a three-day face-to-face knowledge sharing conferences of “best of the best” managers from across NASA. We brought together these managers from NASA, with special guests from the private industry, and other Government agencies, to give managers the opportunity to build cross-department relationships, develop leadership expertise, and participates in a community of practice focusing on sharing lessons learned and unique practices. |
